-
Add materials and disposal
Plants, aggregate, and the cost of taking waste away.
-
Apply your margin
What is left has to cover equipment, insurance and the quiet months.
Who this is for
Quoting a one-off job
A number you can defend line by line if the client asks.
Pricing a maintenance round
Work out the per-visit price from the hours a visit really takes.
Costing waste removal
Disposal is easy to forget and rarely cheap.
Checking a job you already did
Compare quoted hours against actual hours and price the next one better.
Questions
- Should travel time be billable?
- It is time the crew cannot spend on another job, so it has to be paid for somewhere. Whether it appears as its own line or inside the hourly rate is a presentation choice.
- What about equipment?
- Machinery wears out on a schedule. Carrying a share of replacement cost on every job is more honest than treating equipment as free until it dies.
- How do I handle a job that runs long?
- Decide before you quote. Either the quote is fixed and the margin absorbs the risk, or it is an estimate with a stated hourly rate beyond a point. Both work; leaving it unsaid does not.
