How it works
-
Work through the playbook
The sequence that gets a new listing from zero reviews to five.
-
Adapt the message
A fill-in template for asking without pressuring.
-
Copy it
Keep it beside you while you set the listing up.
Who this is for
A brand-new listing
The first reviews are the hardest and matter most.
Relisting
A property returning to the platform starts cold again.
Training a co-host
The same routine regardless of who is managing.
Recovering from a bad review
Volume of recent, honest reviews is the fastest correction.
Questions
- Why do the first five reviews matter so much?
- A listing with no reviews asks a guest to take a risk no competing listing asks of them. Until there are enough reviews to show a pattern, most guests filter it out entirely.
- Can I ask guests for a review?
- Asking is normal and expected. Offering anything in exchange is not, and on most platforms it breaches the terms and can get the listing penalised.
- What if I get a bad early review?
- Reply once, factually and without arguing โ the reply is for future guests, not for the reviewer. Then concentrate on volume, which moves the average faster than any response can.
